Mikela Bryant is Foundation Counsel and acts as general counsel for the Texas Tech Foundation, Inc., as well as provides legal representation to other affiliated nonprofit entities supporting the Texas Tech University System and its component institutions. She works extensively with the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, each component office of development, various foundation boards, the Office of General Counsel and other system and university offices to ensure that gifts to or for the benefit of the system and its components, as well as all Foundation and nonprofit related matters, comply with applicable rules and policies, and Federal and state law.

Bryant proudly leads an exceptional team of five, encompassing Foundation Legal Services and Gift Planning at the system level.  Together, this department provides ongoing support and service to other system offices, the universities, and Foundation board members to further the short and long-term interests of the Texas Tech University System and its students. 

Bryant is graduated from Angelo State University in 2009 and received her law degree from Texas Tech University in 2012. Her practice focuses on philanthropic gifts, endowments, nonprofit law and taxation issues, real estate, trusts and estates, and mineral rights.  She is admitted to practice in both Texas and New Mexico.  Bryant is a graduate of Leadership Women – Texas, Class of 2020 and received her CFRE designation in November 2020.

Bryant’s husband, Shane, also received his undergraduate degree from Angelo State University and his MBA from Texas Tech University.  The couple are both loyal Rams and Red Raiders. They have one daughter, Kendall Fae, and are thankful to call the Lubbock area their home.
