Managing Director Annual Giving
Daniel Burgner is managing director of annual giving for Institutional Advancement. Annual giving focuses on identifying and renewing donors with a capacity to give under $25,000 to build a broad base of philanthropic support for the Texas Tech University System and its universities.
In his role, Burgner supervises all annual giving channels and programs for the Texas Tech University System and Texas Tech University, including Chancellor’s Council, email, telemarketing, direct mail, student philanthropy, crowdfunding, faculty and staff giving, and leadership annual giving for donors giving annual gifts from $1,000 up to $25,000. He also consults and advises on annual giving operations at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and Angelo State University.
Burgner began his career in annual giving as a student caller at his alma mater, Abilene Christian University. After graduation, he accepted a position as program center manager with Ruffalo Noel Levitz, a leader in technology-enabled services and consulting for more than 3,000 higher education and nonprofit clients worldwide. In his role, Burgner supervised telemarketing efforts at Tufts University and the Texas Tech University System and trained annual giving employees who went on to work at Boston College, Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Pennsylvania. He was promoted to senior operations manager with Ruffalo Noel Levitz and worked alongside annual giving teams at ten universities throughout Texas and Kansas, including three Big 12 Conference institutions.
Burgner graduated with a degree in political science from Abilene Christian University. He and his wife, Emily, are proud parents of their son, Quincy, and enjoy living in the friendly community of Lubbock.
