Associate Vice Chancellor Central Advancement
Angela Wimmer is associate vice chancellor for central advancement for Institutional Advancement, where she leads teams responsible for annual giving, gift planning, regional development programs, and corporate and foundation relations.
Before joining the Texas Tech University System, Wimmer served as senior associate director of development for the University of Cambridge, where she created and executed philanthropic strategy for departments and institutions within the School of Biological Sciences. She also led fundraising efforts for cross-school strategic research initiatives, collaborating with university, school and department leadership as well as the offices of international strategy, research operations and Cambridge colleges to maximize philanthropic investment.
A senior fundraising professional with 17 years experience, Wimmer began her career as a legislative correspondent in the U.S. Senate before working as a finance and communications director in Washington. She honed her experience in annual giving and corporate relations in a number of national advancement positions including the Volunteer Center of Orange County and the Muscular Dystrophy Association in California as well as the Memphis Symphony Orchestra in Tennessee.
In 2011, she returned to her alma mater as director of corporate and foundation relations for Auburn University’s Raymond J. Harbert College of Business. Four years later, she was named director of corporate relations for the entire university, responsible for identifying and cultivating new philanthropic partnerships between the university’s academic and research areas and corporations.
Wimmer received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Auburn University. She and her husband, Kevin, have two daughters, Adelyn and Mallory.
