Two members of the Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors were appointed to the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.

The Texas Tech Foundation announced the appointment of two board members to the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.

On March 13, 2023, Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed three new members to the Board of Regents. Today (April 26), the Texas Senate confirmed their appointment.

The Texas Tech Foundation appointees include Clay C. Cash (Lubbock), president of Cash Family investments and Tim G. Culp (Midland), president of Southwest Royalties, Inc., and Desert Production, Inc.

“Tim Culp and Clay Cash have been incredible assets to the Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors,” said Patrick Kramer, Texas Tech Foundation CEO and Texas Tech University System vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement. “I have full confidence that their time on the board will serve them well as they continue to lead the Texas Tech University System as Regents.”

Tim Culp joined the Texas Tech Foundation in 2016. He served as chairman of the Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors since 2021. As chairman, he served as ex-officio on all committees. He previously led the Membership, Nominating & Governance Committee as chair. Culp is the president of Southwest Royalties, Inc., and Desert Production, Inc. He is active in his community and his profession, lending his time and expertise to many boards and organizations. Culp earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from TTU in 1981. He and his wife, Annette, who also graduated from TTU with a degree in fashion merchandising, have four children, three of which have earned degrees from TTU.

Clay Cash joined the Texas Tech Foundation in 2019. He served on both the Executive Committee and Athletics Committee. Cash is the president of Cash Family Investments, which comprises ranching operations, real estate holdings and oil and gas investments. He also is president of the Cash Family Foundation. He serves on the Texas Rangers Association Foundation and the Ranching Heritage Association. Cash earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration management from TTU’s Rawls College of Business in 1997. He and his wife, Ashley, have four children. In addition, Cash comes from a family of Red Raiders, including his parents Don and Kay Cash, who earned degrees in industrial engineering and education, respectively. Don was named an honorary, emeritus director of the Texas Tech Foundation in 2021 for his longtime service.

The third appointment is Shelley Sweatt, Ed.D. (Wichita Falls), president and CEO of The Priddy Foundation and president of The Priddy Foundation Board of Trustees.

Regents are appointed to six-year terms by the governor. All three appointees will officially take the oath of office and start their tenure on the board, with terms set to expire on January 31, 2029. Their first board meeting is in May.

For more than 75 years, the Texas Tech Foundation has partnered with the Texas Tech University System to inspire and support philanthropy across the system’s four universities. The nonprofit organization is independently led by a volunteer board of directors who safeguard generations of charitable gifts. Through contributions to the Texas Tech Foundation, alumni and donors sustain the system’s universities and empower students and faculty to pursue bold ideas that impact lives throughout Texas and the world.
