Texas Tech Foundation

Established in 1939, the Texas Tech Foundation supports and promotes all colleges, schools, programs and campuses of the Texas Tech University System.

Tom C. Wheat has served on the Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors since 2000. The Corpus Christi, Texas, resident also maintains a separate law practice.

Previously, Wheat was managing director of the Kleberg Law Firm, a professional corporation established in 1849 with 65 employees in Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. He later joined the Trust Company N.A., as vice president and general counsel. Today he is a solo practitioner with an emphasis in banking, construction, insurance and real estate.

Wheat is active with the United Way, the American Cancer Society and Texas Tech University. He is a board member of the Texas Tech University System Chancellor’s Council. He and his late wife, Connally, have three children: Thomas, Whitney and Travis, who have all graduated from Texas Tech.
