Richard G. Ligon, the retired owner of McDonald’s in Plainview, Texas, has served on the Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors since 2000.

Ligon, a 1958 and 1960 graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in animal science, was a Saddle Tramp, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and a member of the Block and Bridle Club.

Since that time, Ligon has served as president of the Texas Tech Alumni Association and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas Tech. He recently received the Gerald Thomas Agri-Business Award.

Ligon and his wife, Bobbie, have been recognized for their contributions to Texas Tech with membership in the Matador Society. They have two children, Greg and Tammay, who both attended Texas Tech.
