R. Randall Onstead Jr.
Established in 1939, the Texas Tech Foundation supports and promotes all colleges, schools, programs and campuses of the Texas Tech University System.
R. Randall Onstead Jr. is founding principal of Lone Star Retail Partners LLC, president of Onstead Investments L.P., and managing director of Chapman Partners. He is the former chairman, president and CEO of Randalls Food Markets, Inc. with stores in Houston, Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He currently serves on the boards of BI-LO, LLC , Source Refrigeration & HVAC, Inc., Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Tech Foundation and The Robert R. and Kay M. Onstead Foundation. Onstead has previously served on the boards of Haggen supermarkets, JP Morgan Chase of Texas, Greater Houston Community Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Houston, YMCA of Houston among other civic and philanthropic boards. He has been a member of grocery industry organizations such as Food Marketing Institute and TOPCO.
Onstead graduated from Texas Tech University in 1978 with a degree in marketing and from Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development in 1986. He has two sons, Robert and Doug. Randall and his wife Pam live in Houston and Santa Fe, N.M.
