Michal L. “Mike” Gayler is a certified public accountant and partner at Baker Tilly, one of the 15 largest public accounting and consulting firms in the United States.
After starting his career with Coopers & Lybrand, Gayler has amassed more than 38 years of experience in public accounting and investment banking. Having served as chief financial officer of several companies, he has helped clients solve a variety of complex financial and business issues with his extensive industry experience.
Active in the community, Gayler serves on the board of directors for Visit Forth Worth and is chairman of the Fort Worth Film Commission. A former board member for Dallas Summer Musicals, Gayler is also a long-time board member for The Family Place in Dallas, which empowers North Texas victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling and skills that create independence all while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.
As the current chairman of the Finance Committee for the Texas Tech Alumni Association National Board of Directors, Gayler serves as the organization’s liaison to the Texas Tech Foundation. He is also vice chairman of the Rawls College of Business Advisory Council.
Gayler earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1981 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. His wife Carole also graduated from Texas Tech and is president of the GaylerSmith Company. The couple reside in Fort Worth and have a daughter, Caroline, who works for the March of Dimes in Washington.
