Josh Hunt is executive vice president and a member of the board of directors for Hunt Companies, Inc., a holding company that invests in businesses focused in real estate and infrastructure markets. He is also president of the Hunt Family Foundation and serves on several other Hunt governance boards and committees.
Hunt is also CEO and chairman of MountainStar Sports Group, where he participated in the successful effort to acquire the Tucson Padres, a Triple-A Baseball affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Rebranded the El Paso Chihuahuas, the team began play in a $75 million, state-of-the-art ballpark in the heart of downtown El Paso in spring of 2014, as part of a regional economic development initiative. Southwest University Park and the El Paso Chihuahuas received numerous awards and recognition in 2014, including Ballpark of the Year. In 2015, MountainStar Sports Group invested in a newly awarded soccer franchise, FC Juarez Bravos, in Juarez, Mexico, for the Ascenso MX league. Hunt also serves on the board of directors of Minor League Baseball’s Pacific Coast League.
Active in the El Paso community, Hunt serves as a board member of the Borderplex Alliance, Hospitals of Providence Governing Board, and Medical Center of the Americas Foundation. He is a founding board member of the new El Paso Children’s Museum and board chair of WestStar Home Loans. He is currently co-chair of the Center Against Sexual & Family Violence’s capital campaign and has served on numerous other civic, non-profit and professional boards.
Hunt graduated from The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University with a bachelor’s degree in real estate/finance and earned a master’s degree, with honors, in real estate and construction management from the Daniels School of Business at the University of Denver. He and his wife, Martha “Tita” Hunt, have three children, Catesby, Tolliver and Clementine.
