James Keffer is president of EBAA Iron Sales in Eastland, Texas, where he has served for more than 40 years.
In 1996, Keffer was elected to represent District 60 in the Texas House of Representatives, where he served in a number of leadership roles during his 10 terms, including chairman of the House Committee on Energy Resources, chairman of the House Committee on Ways & Means, and chairman of the House Committee on Economic & Small Business Development.
During his time in the Texas Legislature, he served alongside Texas Tech University System Chancellor Robert Duncan. As a rural member in the House, Keffer always considered the needs and growth of the Texas Tech University System and its impact on his constituents.
Active in his community, Keffer serves on the First Financial Bank board of directors. He is a deacon of First Baptist Church, Eastland, and he works with the local chamber of commerce.
Keffer received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Texas Tech University. He resides in Eastland, Texas, with his wife, Leslie Keffer, who also graduated from Texas Tech University in 1976. The couple has three sons, Brad, Chris and Robby, and two grandchildren, Braxton and Brooklyn. Their son, Chris, graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in public relations, and his wife, Ashley, also graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in early childhood development.
