David Turner is mayor of Odessa, Texas, and a Subway sandwich shop franchise owner.
Born and raised in Odessa, Turner is a fifth generation Texas, whose family has lived in Texas since the early 1900s. In 1994, Turner opened his first Subway sandwich shop, and today, proudly owns seven locations.
Elected mayor in 2012, Turner has worked to secure water rights for generations of Odessa residents as well as bring in new businesses and commerce to the city. He currently leads the Mayor’s Drug and Crime Commission and serves on committees for Grow Odessa, the city’s economic development corporation.
Active in the Odessa community, Turner has served on a number of boards and committees, including services as former president of the Odessa College Board of Trustees, vice chairman of the Permian Basin Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance and member of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce board of directors. He has also served on the Permian Basin Workforce Development Committee and the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission.
Turner holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University.
