A farmer since 1965, Dale Swinburn is a director and partner in Windstar, Inc., a cotton ginning and investment company, as well as a director of Happy State Bank.
A native of Memphis, Texas, Swinburn is a graduate of Tulia High School and received a bachelor of science in agronomy from Texas Tech University in 1965. He currently serves on the Plains Cotton Growers Improvement Committee and the Texas State Support Committee of Cotton Incorporated.
Swinburn is a past board member of the Tulia Independent School District, Swisher County Memorial Hospital District, Swisher County Appraisal District and Westex Federal Land Bank. He has also served on the board of directors for Cotton Incorporated and the board of trustees for Ceta Canyon Methodist Camp. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Tulia, Texas, and serves on the Finance Committee for First United Methodist Church of Tulia, where he is a member.
Recognized with the Texas Tech University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008, Swinburn serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Texas Tech University College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He received the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999 and was honored again in 2002 with the college’s Gerald W. Thomas Award for Outstanding Agriculturalist. Swinburn was awarded the Southwest High Cotton Award in 2002 by the Southwest Farm Press.
Swinburn is a member of the Red Raider Club, Texas Tech Alumni Association and the Texas Tech University System Chancellor’s Council. He is also an honorary member of the Texas Tech University Agronomy Club.
He and his wife, Cheryl Culwell Swinburn, have 3 sons, Chad, Scot and Dane, and 5 grandchildren.
